BREAK THE CYCLE
Demon's Souls is an action-oriented role-playing game where the player fights demons in various fantasy worlds. The player controls a third-person character, which he creates at the very beginning of the game. It is possible to choose such qualities as gender, age, name and combat class. There are 10 different starting classes, from knights and barbarians to thieves and mages, each with its own set of qualities, equipment, magic and weapons, which provide an initial vector for using defensive and offensive tactics.
As the player kills demons, souls are received, which are a universal in-game currency. Its area of application includes the purchase, repair and improvement of weapons, increasing the qualities of the character itself, such as strength, luck or endurance. Along with souls, the player receives items, such as weapons or ore for improvements. When the player is killed for the first time during the passage of the level, he gets to the very beginning of it, while all enemies (except bosses) are resurrected, and the player loses some health and all unused souls. If the player manages to return to the place where he was last killed, he will regain his lost souls, but if he is killed again before that, all souls will be lost forever. After killing a boss, the player can move to the place of his death, and thus move further and further into the current world. Between battles, the player can rest in the Nexus - a special dimension where all lost souls are collected and where it is possible to exchange souls, deposit equipment and trophies, and move between regions of the shared reality.
The gameplay can change depending on the world and subjective tendency, which can be either white or black. The tendency depends on the player's actions, such as helping NPCs or killing them. During white, enemies are weaker, but the number of souls and the quality of weapons also decreases; during black, enemies become stronger, but the revenue will also be higher. The player can manipulate the tendency to achieve their current goals. The subjective tendency affects the player in general, and the global tendency affects the region where a particular action was performed.
